Serve Our Community Health

A non-profit, non-governmental welfare organization run by the students of Dow Medical College, working for the betterment of Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital, Karachi and the promotion of community health.

CURE

One of the main pillars of SOCH, Team CURE handles all the on-ground work involved in the renovation and upliftment of different areas in Civil Hospital. From renovating HDUs to equipping the wards with all necessary machinery, they leave no stone unturned to present the perfect final products!

PR for CURE

Being such an integral part of the society, the CURE department requires its own PR team. This team works hard to establish and maintain positive relationships with donors, volunteers and sponsors, through effect communication strategies and database maintenance. They ensure open communication between all stakeholders of SOCH, including alumni, sponsors and donors, and volunteers.

Deep Clean Project

Team Deep Cleaning Project is Civil Hospital’s very own Sanitation Police. Members of the team work tirelessly to ensure the Hospital is a clean and safe environment for patients, attendants and doctors. This is SOCH’s newest department, established in the 2023 tenure.

Events & Campaigns

The walking posters of SOCH: Team Events & Campaign ensures awareness of the society and its tenets, and organises programs to help fight myths and spread good practices regarding healthcare. Year after year, Team E&C conducts flawless events, marches and campaigns within the premises of Civil Hospital.

School Volunteer Program

The Team for the School Volunteer Program (SVP) handles the bi-annual volunteer program for O/A and Matric/Intermediate students. During the 4-day program, students learn about their community and how they can give back to it through engaging and interactive sessions, talks and activities.

Human Resources

Giving back to the community is a multifaceted process, and it is only successful if each department is in harmony with the others and our Human Resources team ensures that! They are also tasked with the arduous process of recruiting new brilliant volunteers, ensuring SOCH has the best torchbearers.

Media

Our Media team works devotedly to make sure each picture of SOCH really is worth a thousand words. They engage with our audience with the most aesthetically pleasing print and online media, ensuring a constant stream of donors, sponsors and especially volunteers into the SOCH family.

Publications

All written content is their brainchild, ensuring our message is always accurately conveyed to our readers. They also pen down moving tales of people at Civil Hospital and share them with the world. Our Publications and Media teams collaborated for months to make our newsletter a reality!

Finance

Managing donations is a huge responsibility; complete transparency and incredible attention to detail is required to maintain the trust of our donors and change the lives of the recipients. Our Finance team deals with these tasks diligently. They build SOCH’s budget framework and maintain records of all transactions and fundraising efforts.
